Tool for the Week: Collaboration & Communication through Google Drive |
1. Watch this short introduction to Google Drive.
2. If you have a gmail or Google account, log on to Google. If you do not have a Google account yet, go to http://www.google.com, click "Sign In," and in the next page, click SIGN UP.
3. Google Drive Activities
Go to http://drive.google.com (OR, while you're logged on to Google, click DRIVE.)
You'll see the CREATE button and the UPLOAD arrow.
Activity 1: Spreadsheet - Educational Technology Programs

While on Google Drive, click on CREATE > Spreadsheet
Click on "Untitled spreadsheet" and rename the document, "Technology Education Programs"
Click on cell B2 and write "Programs"
Click on cell C2 and write, "Username"
Click on cell D2 and write, "Password"
Click on cell E2 and write, "Email Used"
Add data on Glogster and Wikispaces, the two programs we have used so far.
Hover your cursor over the area before the document title (Technology Education Programs) and you should see "Go back to Google Drive." Click on it to go back to Google Drive.
Activity 2: Slideshow Presentation -

While on Google Drive, click on CREATE > Presentation
Select a theme.
Insert new slides.
Create a 4-5 slide presentation on a topic of your choice.
Add text and images.
Click on the blue SHARE button on the upper right hand corner. Change the privacy setting to "Anyone with link." Click done.
Embed the presentation on your wiki.

Do an Internet search on your subtopic and accomplish your Search Log. Conduct a research of online articles and resources related your topic. Evaluate 7 - 10 sites. Use the web evaluation guide shown in class. Your goal is to address at least 5 categories for each web site you evaluate.

If you have to be absent in class, this is where you should check for what we did in class that day. Assignment details will be provided both on this Wiki and on Blackboard. This way, you have two ways to access assignment details.

1. Sign up for Wikispace and create your own page.
2. Work on Glogster
a. Check your work against the rubric.
b. Embed your blog on your Wiki page.
Go to Glogster Edu. Edit your blog.
Save it. Make sure you mark it PUBLIC.
View your glog. Scroll down to find get the EMBED code.
COPY the embed code for BLOG SIZE.
Go to your wiki page. Edit your page.
Click on WIDGET > OTHER HTML > paste the embed code > SAVE the code.
SAVE the wiki page.
3. Group Work
Divide into groups. Group meets to select a technology topic for an EdTech Report (Textbook chapters 6 – 10). Select subtopics. You will write a paper and create a presentation on your subtopic. The whole group will create a newsletter on the chapter.Sign UP HERE:
